Hiroshi Asada (1931–1997), set of 2 frames containing 4 drawings Dimensions: 31 cm × 31 cm and 24 cm × 71 cm The Japanese printmaker Hiroshi Asada was born in Kyoto in 1931. Coming from a family of painters practising traditional Japanese art (Nihonga), the young man soon abandoned this complex and restrictive technique to devote himself to oil painting in the tradition of the Western masters, under the influence of Shinseisaku Kyokai. In his work, Asada explores the psychology of everyday life through still lifes imbued with surrealism.
