SARRI, Gaetano (1698–1771). Public Law of Sicily. Palermo: Bentivenga, 1786. An expanded edition of this treatise on the public law of the Kingdom of Sicily, dedicated to Viceroy Francesco d’Aquino and illustrated with 28 portraits of the kings of Sicily and Naples. The work examines the political and administrative organisation of the island, the prerogatives of the Crown, the magistracies, the Sicilian Parliament, the feudal system and the principal institutions of the Kingdom, compiling and commenting on the laws then in force and Sicilian legal customs. 2 parts in one volume, 4to (270 × 215 mm). Engraved vignettes on the title-pages, 6 folding genealogical tables, 28 engraved portraits in the text, numerous woodcut tailpieces, uncut (foxing). Late nineteenth-century full vellum binding, with gilt titles and decorations on the spine label. (2)
