[ORDER OF MALTA]. A collection of thirteen reports on legal proceedings and disputes concerning jurisdiction and property relating to the Order of Malta. Rome, Venice and Malta, 1767–1797.
An interesting collection of legal memorials and responses relating to the judicial activity of the Order of Malta in the late eighteenth century, concerning disputes between knights, commanders, priories and Langues over succession, the possession and administration of commanderies, financial rights and conflicts of jurisdiction. Documents of limited circulation, of particular interest for the history of the Order’s judicial system and the administration of its estates.
