An important edition of the Civil Statutes of the city of Bologna, reproducing the text of Giovanni Battista Phaello’s 1532 Bologna edition and enriched with the annotations of the Bolognese jurist Ludovico Gozzadini (1479–1536), which are stated here to be published for the first time. The work brings together the municipal statutes, accompanied by glosses, provisions and an extensive analytical index, documenting the civil, administrative and judicial organisation of the city in the sixteenth century. The volume is accompanied by an interesting collection of sixteenth-century Bolognese criminal legislation, centred on the *Sanctiones ad causas criminales spectantium* of 1577, bound together with four further Bolognese legal works from the same century.
