A copy from the library of the Dukes of Grafton at Euston Hall of this collection of political and diplomatic documents relating to Tudor and early Stuart England, comprising letters, dispatches and state papers by sovereigns, ministers and leading statesmen from the reigns of Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, James I and Charles I. Published during the Restoration, the work constitutes one of the earliest major printed collections of English political correspondence and is an important source for the study of diplomacy, foreign policy and the events leading to the English Civil War. Folio (300 × 190 mm). Title-page printed in red and black (foxing and browning). Contemporary full calf (upper cover detached, defects and losses).
