First edition of the Divine Comedy with a commentary by Niccolò Tommaseo (1802–1874), one of the leading Italian men of letters and philologists of the nineteenth century. The commentary, the result of the celebrated Dalmatian writer’s studies on Dante, contributed to the renewed interest in the poet during the Risorgimento, offering an interpretation that paid particular attention to the linguistic, historical and moral aspects of the poem. 3 parts in one volume, 4to (250 × 155 mm).
