Description
[BINDING] COLBERT, family; DUMONT, Jean (1667–1727). *Corps universel diplomatique du droit des gens* [WITH:] *Supplément*. Amsterdam and The Hague, 1726–1739. An important set of folio volumes in uniform eighteenth-century bindings bearing the arms of the Colbert family. Bound in full brown calf, the covers are framed by a narrow blind fillet and centred with the Colbert arms stamped in gilt within a circular medallion. Folio (410 × 280 mm). Titles printed in red and black (some browning); text not collated. Uniform contemporary full brown calf with the Colbert family coat of arms, covers framed with a blind fillet and centred with a large gilt armorial stamp within a circular border; raised bands, compartments richly decorated in gilt, titles and volume numbers lettered in gilt (signs of use, rubbing and binding defects, more pronounced on some covers, joints and spine ends; overall a well-preserved set considering the substantial size of the volumes). Provenance: the Colbert family (gilt arms on covers). (16)
