Two works devoted to the history, institutions and antiquities of ancient Rome, with particular emphasis on numismatics and Roman civil and military organisation. The group includes Liguoro’s intriguing historical and numismatic handbook on imperial coins, gems and intaglios, containing observations on their rarity and value, criteria for distinguishing genuine specimens from forgeries, and guidance on deciphering numismatic abbreviations.
