Description
TASSO, Torquato (1544–1595). *Il Rinaldo*. Paper manuscript, late 18th century.
An interesting late 18th-century manuscript containing the twelve cantos of *Il Rinaldo*, Torquato Tasso’s first heroic poem, composed in his youth and first published in 1562. Dedicated to Cardinal Luigi d’Este, the work represents the first significant poetic achievement of the future author of *Gerusalemme liberata*, already displaying the themes and chivalric models that would reach their full development in his mature works.
Folio (275 × 200 mm). Richly decorated calligraphic title page with watercolour embellishments; manuscript text in an elegant cursive hand written on ruled lines. Unbound. (1)
