[STAFFORD COLLECTION] OTTLEY, William Young (1771–1836). Engravings of the most noble The Marquis of Stafford’s Collection of pictures. London: Bensley and Son, 1818.
An illustrated catalogue of the renowned art collection of the Marquesses of Stafford, who, from 1806 onwards, were credited with making it accessible to the public. Their London residence was transformed into an exhibition space where visitors could admire works by, amongst others, Poussin, Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto, Van Dyck, Rembrandt and Turner.
Folio, 4 volumes in one (410 x 265 mm). 139 lithographic plates (some slight foxing). Bound in early 20th-century half-morocco. (1)
