CHARLES-ROBERT VALLET (1907-1993), "Chaland et filet - Bassin d'Arcachon", Mixed media, SBD dated "1988", titled and dated on the back, 48 x 63 cm / frame 78.5 x 63.5 cm A painter-decorator and draughtsman, he studied with Fernand Ballet and Lépine at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux. His meeting with Picasso in 1952 in Saint-Tropez marked his style of painting, with a predilection for Bordeaux and the Basin. He belonged to the generation of "Bordeaux Independents", along with Belaubre, Boissonnet and Lourtaud, who acted as a "bridge between figuration and abstraction".
