Description
Jean HUGON (1919-1990), Regatta on the Basin, HST, SBD, 60x50cm. Jean Hugon was a painter from Marseilles who moved to Bordeaux in 1953. He left Marseille at eighteen, at an age when his vocation as a painter was in prospect. He was influenced by the work of François Desnoyer in Montauban. In Bordeaux, he joined the Solstice group, and made friends with Jac Belaubre, Edmond Boissonnet and Michel Joussaume at Henriette Bounin's Galerie du fleuve. He won several awards at the salons where he exhibited, notably in Paris (Salon d'Automne, Comparaisons) and abroad (Munich, Sao Paulo, Moscow, Tokyo).
