Jac BELAUBRE ( Preignac 1906 - Bordeaux circa 2000), "La dame au chapeau "1988, HST, SBG, titled and dated on the back, 73x60cm. Painter, journalist and art critic (La France, La Vie de Bordeaux, Arts d'Aquitaine under the under the pseudonyms of Lewis and Irène), pupil of Raoul Queynioux, himself a former pupil of Gustave He was a pupil of Raoul Queynioux, himself a former pupil of Gustave Moreau, then of Georges de Sonneville, whom he considered his spiritual father, and of Henri Barbier, a former pupil of Bonnat and Luc-Olivier Merson. From 1933 to 1955, he was general secretary of the Bordeaux Independent Artists, then in 1955 he founded the Regard society. Suzanne Valadon, Maurice Utrillo, Othon Friez, Redon, Marquet and Roger Bissière were all exhibited by him. Influenced by Braque, Matisse and Bonnard, his still lifes are colourful and filled with birds. Exhibitions in Bordeaux: salons des Artistes Indépendants / Regards / l'Arche / Septemvir , in Soulac and Paris: Salons d'Automne, des Tuileries, des Terres Latines. A major retrospective in 1988 at Château Lescombes in Eysin.
