Yves FOURNIER (Bordeaux 1917- 2016), "Les quais, Bordeaux", gouache and pastel, monogrammed lower right, titled and signed upper left, 37x46cm.
A painter and poster artist trained at the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts, his favourite subjects were horse racing. Author of posters for the national lottery (Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe 1959).
His work evokes some of the masters of the 20th century, from Raoul Dufy to Gen Paul. He also painted regional oils and gouaches of the Atlantic coast and the port of Bordeaux, nudes and abstract canvases. His studio collection was dispersed in 2025.
