Description
PIERRE LOUIS CAZAUBON (1872-1950) Le port de Bordeaux, oil on panel, dated 1906, SBD, fine stucco frame, 24x33 cm / frame 47x56cm. A student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, where he worked in the studio of landscape artist Louis Alexandre Cabié, Cazaubon was both a painter and a decorator. Widely acclaimed and awarded numerous medals at his exhibitions, he was a member of the Salon des Artistes Français from 1905. He decorated one of the lounges in the Hôtel Frugès and a meeting room at the Bourse Maritime in Bordeaux with several canvases depicting the history of the port.
The port of Bordeaux remained a recurring source of inspiration for him.
Several paintings, including large-scale ones, can be seen at the Musée d'Aquitaine in the permanent exhibition "Bordeaux port(e) du monde".
