Brochure, 8vo, 47 pages. “We propose the following decree: Article I: The French People recognise the existence of the Supreme Being and the immortality of the soul. Article II: They recognise that the worship worthy of the Supreme Being is the fulfilment of man’s duties. Article III: It places at the forefront of its duties the rejection of bad faith and tyranny, the punishment of tyrants and traitors, the relief of the unfortunate, respect for the weak, the defence of the oppressed, doing as much good to others as one can, and not being unjust towards anyone …" This report is followed by the ‘Plan for the Festival of the Supreme Being, to be celebrated on 20 Prairial, proposed by David and decreed by the National Convention’ (6 pages).
