*Les Commentaires du Soldat du Vivarais*, published by J.-L. de Laboissière, is a historical work that explores the origins of the rebellion in France and the wars endured by the Vivarais region. The work is divided into three books, organised by the periods of the wars, and includes the *Voyage du Duc de Rohan en Vivarais* (The Duke of Rohan’s Journey to Vivarais) in 1628, as well as the *Relation de la révolte de Roure* (Account of the Roure Revolt) in 1670.
It is taken from a handwritten journal by J. de Banne, a canon of Viviers. This collection is of the utmost importance for the history of the civil wars linked to the Reformation in the Vivarais region (Ardèche), from the uprising in Privas in 1619 to the siege of the town in 1629.
