Bronze with a silver-coloured patina, signed. Signed by the caster: ‘H. Peyrol Fbt (Paris)’.
Height: 29 cm. Width: 28.5 cm. Depth: 23 cm. (Wear to the patina, soiling).
A cartouche, now missing, read: “Ministry of Agriculture, Côtes du Nord Honourary Prize Competition 1907. Agricultural Prize, second category”.
The vast majority of Isidore Bonheur’s bronze sculptures were produced by the foundryman Hippolyte Peyrol (1856–1929), the husband of Juliette Bonheur, the artist’s younger sister.
