An ivory figure (Elephas maximus, Loxodonta africana or Loxodonta cyclotis), carved to depict the Lion of Lucerne, its flank pierced by a spear, resting upon the coats of arms of France and Switzerland, on a rectangular plinth inscribed: ‘HELVETIORUM FIDEI AC VIRTUTI’
