An antique ‘Kifwebe’ mask made of semi-hard wood, enhanced with white (kaolin), red and black pigments, depicting a stylised hybrid face with a prominent sagittal crest, adorned with striations and geometric motifs. Cracks, losses and indigenous repairs. Worn by members of the Bwadi bwa Kifwebe men’s society for the purposes of combating witchcraft and maintaining social order.
