Large ‘Kifwebe’ mask made of medium-hard wood, enhanced with predominantly white pigments, depicting a large, stylised hybrid face reminiscent of an owl with large, round eyes and small tufts, adorned with parallel striations. Cracks, signs of wear. Worn by members of the Bwadi bwa Kifwebe men’s society for the purposes of combating witchcraft and maintaining social order.
