Description
A celestial map entitled ‘Astronomical Map of the Universe’ on canvas-mounted paper, published by Ferdinand de Boyeres, 28 Boulevard Saint-Germain. The map was drawn by Étienne Laporte and engraved by T. Gheldof in 1878 for educational purposes. The central section depicts the universe with the planets, surrounded by illustrations of galaxies, planets, a telescope and astronomical phenomena. The lower section contains a text on the planets and meteors, accompanied by illustrations.
