Description
Luc LANEL (1893–1965) for the first-class liner *Normandie* Two Christofle silver-plated soup bowls, monogrammed ‘CGT’ Diameter 20 cm (rim to rim) Note: Luc Lanel was head of electroplating, then artistic director at Christofle. During the construction of the liner Normandie, he was commissioned to create various designs for the ship, notably two series: ‘Ondulation’ in 1933 and ‘Transat’ in 1935. Alongside this work, he designed the new CGT logo, which remained in use until the 1960s. Many of Lanel’s designs were subsequently reissued.
