Rare tableware set by a merchant, comprising two shell-shaped bowls in Chinese porcelain decorated in green family enamels with precious objects and scholars surrounded by flowers and Buddhist symbols on a pebbled background. The shells are adorned with a French chased and gilt bronze rocaille mounting of foliage, scrolls and shells.
The porcelain is from the Kangxi period (1662-1722) and the mount from the Louis XV period circa 1750 (some minor chips).
