KLINGENTHAL COULAUX aîné & Co.
Hunting dagger from the Imperial Forestry School (1853–1873) in brass, horn and steel, the pommel decorated with bees and foliage scrolls, the tang in horn, the guard decorated with foliage scrolls and palmettes; the shaft marked ‘Forêt’, framed by a frieze of oak leaves, and featuring two quillons with eagle heads. Straight blade with a rounded back and a back edge, marked ‘École impériale forestière’; the back bears the maker’s mark.
With its leather and silver-plated metal scabbard, fitted with a pommel decorated with foliage scrolls and a wild boar’s head pommel, and a scabbard hilt decorated with interlaced foliage.
