A partial and somewhat varied reproduction of the portrait painted by Jean Fouquet between 1440 and 1455 and now in the Louvre.
Charles VII (1403–1461) reigned from 1422 to 1461 over a Kingdom of France ravaged by civil war and English claims to the throne. His reign is inextricably linked to the figure of Joan of Arc, who enabled him to be crowned and to bring the Hundred Years’ War to an end.
