Description
Four-panel screen in embossed leather, Renaissance style, mid-19th century
Panels in embossed, repoussé, silver-plated, gilded and painted leather, decorated with a pinnacle surmounted by a heraldic lion. Minor imperfections on two panels.
67 x 180 cm (panel)
The design is consistent with other sets of leather hangings installed by L. Lenormand (1801–1862) to decorate several state rooms in the château; this may be a remnant of the wallhanging from one of these rooms, which has since disappeared.
