Mannequin of a Caucasian ‘Montagnard’ officer
Chainmail, with decorated iron arm guards; short-sleeved red cloth tunic, edged with silver braid, with an eight-compartment leather cartridge belt topped with silver braid; thin leather belt with a red leather pouch; short, padded trousers ending at the knee; red cloth leggings; pointed-toe shoes.
Condition: Wear and tear, moth damage.
A capeline with ear flaps and a hinged neck flap is included.
Provenance: Casimir-Louis-Victurnien de Rochechouart de Mortemart, Prince of Tonnay-Charente, Baron of Mortemart, Peer of France, born in 1787, died in 1875. He was a general and French ambassador to Saint Petersburg from 1828 to 1830, then ambassador extraordinary to Tsar Nicholas I in 1833.
