Two painted officers’ beds with chiselled bronze, c. 1840 Resting on straight legs ending in castors, with the posts topped by gilded acanthus rosettes. Signed ‘Henry Ainé, Rue Poissonnière’ on a plaque. Oxidation, losses and damage. H. 97 L. 207 P. 100 cm A third bed is included for parts The firm of Henry Ainé, based on Rue Poissonnière, won a silver medal in 1827 for the ingenuity of its extendable bed, for which it took out a patent.
