Description
Two candlesticks and two candlestick bases of the ‘Au Roi’ model adorning the guest apartments at the Palace of Versailles. The base is contoured, the bowl decorated with flutes, and the shaft and finial twisted. One from Paris, 1773–1774 (letter K) Master craftsman Etienne Moreau, admitted in 1753 The second from Paris, 1776–1777 (letter N) Master craftsman Edmé François Balzac, admitted in 1769. All pieces bear the ‘camel’ mark, indicating items destined for export (BP no. 493). The bobèches: Paris 1776–1777 and Paris 1777–1778 H.: 26 cm Total weight: 1565.8 g Slight deformation of one base
