The Grand Pope — in reality, Saga of Gemini in disguise — is the main antagonist and the driving force behind the entire Sanctuary arc. His masked silhouette, his white robe, his throne overlooking the twelve houses: he is the very embodiment of corrupt power in Saint Seiya. The revelation of his true identity, in the final episodes of the arc, is one of the series’ most memorable moments. A cel of the Grand Pope is a rare find: as a character who never appears in open combat until the final confrontation, he is depicted far less frequently in the animation than the Bronze or Gold Saints are in their action sequences.
