Description
Dragon Quest: Abel Yuusha (ドラゴンクエスト~勇者アベル伝説~ - Dragon Quest ~Yuusha Abel Densetsu~) Abel Hand-painted celluloid sheet used in the production of the anime Dragon Quest: Abel Yuusha Densetsu, based on Enix and Akira Toriyama (鳥山 明) (designs). Executed in ink and gouache. Produced by Toei Animation 1989–1991, Japan H26 L23 cm Dragon Quest: Yūsha Abel Densetsu is the first animated adaptation of the Dragon Quest franchise — one of the best-selling video game series in world history — produced before Dragon Ball Z had finished airing. Abel, the hero, protects the blue orb and sets off in search of Tiara, the guardian of the red orb who has been kidnapped by the Demon King Baramos. The character design is by Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball — and the visual resemblance between Abel and a young Goku is striking. The series was never broadcast in France and remains little known outside Japan, despite comprising 43 episodes and having been partially broadcast in the United States under the title Dragon Warrior.
