Dororo (どろろ) Hyakkimaru and Dororo Hand-painted celluloid sheet used in the production of the anime Dororo, based on the work of Osamu Tezuka (手塚 治虫). Executed in ink and gouache on an original gouache background. The celluloid is slightly warped. Produced by Mushi Production 1969, Japan H24 L33.6 cm This lot is the most valuable of the three Dororo pieces in the auction: it depicts the two protagonists together in a single composition. Hyakkimaru and Dororo are not simply hero and sidekick — they are two solitary figures who complement one another: the former cannot see, hear or speak properly, whilst the latter talks incessantly and observes everything.
