Rurouni Kenshin (るろうに剣心) Original celluloid drawing in ink and gouache used in the production of the anime based on the work by Nobuhiro Watsuki (和月 伸宏) Produced by Studio Gallop and Studio Deen 1996–1998, Japan H23 L 26 cm Rurouni Kenshin is one of the most significant franchises in Japanese sword-fighting manga: with over 70 million copies sold, adapted into two live-action films in 2012 and 2014 grossing over 160 million dollars, and into a further film trilogy. The TV series (1996–1998) was produced by Studio Gallop for the first 66 episodes (the Tokyo arc and the Kyoto arc featuring Shishio) and then by Studio Deen for the following 29 episodes (the Shimabara arc featuring Amakusa).
