Description
Rurouni Kenshin (るろうに剣心) Kenshin Himura and Shogo Amakusa Original ink and gouache cell used in the production of the anime based on the work of Nobuhiro Watsuki (和月 伸宏). Accompanied by a printed background Produced by Studio Gallop and Studio Deen 1996–1998, Japan H24 L26.5 cm Kenshin Himura and Shogo Amakusa — in a single composition. Shogo Amakusa is the main antagonist of the Shimabara arc (episodes 67–95, Studio Deen), inspired by the real-life Amakusa Shirō, a 17th-century Christian martyr. In the series, Shogo learnt the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū — the same style as Kenshin — from his uncle, making him one of the few opponents capable of facing Kenshin on equal technical terms. This scene, depicting a direct confrontation between the two masters of the same fencing style, is narratively charged: it captures a moment of mirroring, in which Kenshin fights a version of himself who has chosen the opposite path.
