Bleach (ブリーチ) Kenpachi Zaraki Pencil and coloured pencil illustration created for the anime adaptation of Tite Kubo’s (久保 帯人) manga Produced by Studio Pierrot 2004–2024, Japan H24 L27 cm Kenpachi Zaraki is the captain of the 11th Division — renowned as the most formidable fighter in the Gotei 13. His relationship with power is the central paradox of his character: he deliberately handicaps himself (with a headband that absorbs his strength and a habit of fighting with one hand) so that his opponents can put up sufficient resistance to satisfy his love of combat. Introduced in the Soul Society arc as the main antagonist, he goes on to become one of Ichigo’s most important allies.
