B’t X (ビート・エックス, Bîto ekkusu) Celluloid drawn in ink and gouache, used in the production of the anime based on Masami Kurumada’s manga Produced by TMS Entertainment 1996, Japan H 23 L 26 cm B’t X is a manga by Masami Kurumada — the same author as Saint Seiya (lots 1–50). Published between 1994 and 1999, and adapted into an anime by TMS in 1996, the series follows Teppei as he seeks to save his brother in an empire ruled by machines known as B’ts — living armour units bound to their pilots by a blood contract. The link between B’t X and Saint Seiya is direct: in it, Kurumada reinvents the concept of armour as a living partner rather than mere equipment.
