It all begins here. Adapted from Mitsuteru Yokoyama’s manga, first published in 1956, Tetsujin 28-gō — known in France as Gigantor — is the first giant robot in the history of Japanese animation. The metal colossus, remotely controlled by the young Shōtarō Kaneda, laid the foundations for an entire genre: the idea that a child can harness colossal power, and that man and machine form a decisive alliance.
These celluloid reproductions, produced by the studios themselves as prestige items, are fascinating hybrids between production documents and commemorative works. Collecting Tetsujin today means owning the birth certificate of the super-robot.
