Rei is the master of Nanto Suichōken — the martial art of the Nanto school, which stands in opposition to the Hokuto school and destroys from the outside rather than from within. A character of rare graphic elegance in the series — long white coat, delicate features, silver hair — his narrative arc is one of the most tragic in Fist of the North Star: stricken by a curse that leaves him with three days to live following an injury inflicted by an overwhelmingly powerful opponent, he chooses to spend those three days protecting his loved ones, using all his power right up to the very last second. His death is one of the most beautiful and heart-wrenching in the series. This cel of Rei — a character whose popularity spawned a dedicated manga spin-off — is a rare piece
