Captain Tsubasa - Olive and Tom (キャプテン翼) Olivier Atton (Tsubasa Ozora) Hand-painted celluloid sheet used in the production of the Captain Tsubasa anime, based on the work of Yōichi Takahashi (高橋 陽一). Executed in ink and gouache on a printed background. Produced by Tsuchida Production and Studio Pierrot 1983–1986, Japan H23 L26 cm Captain Tsubasa revolutionised the way football was portrayed in animation: players race across pitches stretching for several kilometres, shots are like meteors, and goalkeepers leap to impossible heights. This visual excess — which both amused and captivated — is precisely what inspired real-life football careers across Europe in the 1990s. Zinedine Zidane, Fernando Torres and Alexis Sánchez have all cited the series as an influence from their youth.
