Captain Future is one of the great Japanese animated series of the 1970s — an adaptation of Edmond Hamilton’s science fiction novels published in the United States between 1940 and 1951. Curtis Newton, known as Captain Flam, is a scientific genius and orphan raised on the Moon by a robot, an android and a disintegrated brain — a motley crew that says it all about the series’ universe. Its broadcast in France in the late 1970s, followed by its appearance on *Club Dorothée*, fostered a lasting generational attachment.
