Yayoi Yukino, Queen Millennia, is an alien who has lived amongst humans for millennia, awaiting the return of her home planet Illumidas, which approaches Earth every thousand years. The series has direct links to the worlds of Albator and Galaxy Express 999 — Matsumoto’s characters cross paths and share the same fictional universe. This animation cell of Queen Millennia in her court dress is a relic from Matsumoto’s most prolific period in animation — and features one of the most enigmatic female characters in his universe.
