Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door (カウボーイビバップ 天国の扉) Electra Ovilo Hand-painted celluloid sheet used in the production of the animated film Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, based on the work of Hajime Yatate (矢立 肇). Executed in ink and gouache. Produced by Sunrise 2001, Japan H23 L30 cm Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door is the animated film based on Shinichirō Watanabe’s cult series (Sunrise, 1998) — one of the most internationally acclaimed Japanese animated productions, blending jazz, film noir and science fiction. Electra Ovilo is the film’s female protagonist — an agent for a government organisation whose motivations intertwine with those of the Bebop crew. Her design — a tight-fitting jumpsuit, short hair, a determined gaze — is one of Watanabe’s most carefully crafted female designs, halfway between an action heroine and an ambiguous character.
