Kiss Me, Lucile / Lucile, Love and Rock ’n’ Roll (愛してナイト) Mathias – Katō Gō and Lucile Duronchon – Mitamura Yaeko Original cel painted in ink and gouache used in the production of the anime, based on the work of Kaoru Tada (多田かおる) Produced by Toei Animation 1983–1984, Japan H24 L26.5 cm *Kiss Me, Lucile* is adapted from Kaoru Tada’s manga — a romantic shōjo series broadcast in France on *Club Dorothée* under the title *Lucile, Love and Rock ’n’ Roll*. This cell depicts Mathias and Lucile together — the two protagonists of the series’ central romance. Kaoru Tada was an author whose career was tragically cut short in 1999, and whose work — notably *Itazura na Kiss* — is regarded as having laid the foundations for modern romantic shōjo manga.
