Master Keaton (MASTERキートン) Taichi Hiraga Keaton and some supporting characters Hand-painted celluloid sheet used in the production of the anime Master Keaton, based on the work of Naoki Urasawa (浦沢 直樹), Hokusei Katsushika (勝鹿 北星) and Takashi Nagasaki (長崎 尚志). Executed in ink and gouache. Produced by Madhouse 1998–1999, Japan H26.4 L55.5 cm Master Keaton has sold over 20 million copies — a figure that speaks to the franchise’s significance in the history of Japanese seinen manga. The 1998 Madhouse adaptation was directed by Masayuki Kojima, who went on to direct *Monster* (also based on a work by Urasawa).
