Description
Set of three earthenware tobacco jars, circa 1930: - Cylindrical tobacco jar in coloured porcelain. The body is decorated with stylised green, blue and white motifs outlined in black, in a South American style, on a red, orange and black background. The lid, which is a uniform orange-red colour, features a wood-coloured pipe in relief, serving as a handle. No mark. H 14.5 cm - A metallic-glazed ceramic tobacco jar, circa 1950–1960, cylindrical in shape and resembling a purse, uniformly brown in colour with a brown-pink metallic lustre. On the body, the word ‘Tabac’ is inscribed in gold lettering against a background of oriental calligraphy within a cartouche. The lid, shaped like the top of a purse tied with a pink cord, is hollowed out to form two recesses in which the pipes rest. Engraved with the number 9025 and, in gold lettering: ‘Création réservée’, ‘Décor main’, ‘Made in France’, ‘Modèle déposé’. Desvres or Jersey? H 15cm - Late 19th-century earthenware tobacco jar, cylindrical, midnight blue with gold trim. The word ‘Tabac’ is inscribed on the body in gilded Gothic letters. Marked: ‘K’ and the number 2. H 15cm
