Description
A scriban chest of drawers in moulded and carved Santo Domingo oak or speckled mahogany. It opens with an upper flap resting on two pulls and revealing 14 niches, 4 drawers and 3 secret compartments. The belt is entirely carved with shells, foliage and scrolls on a partially netted background. It opens onto two columns of three drawers with a curved front framing a full curved door in the centre.
The drawer handles and key escutcheons are lightly decorated with chased and gilded bronze.
It stands on four slightly arched legs (front right leg missing).
18th century regional harbour work (made before 1947)
