Biography:
Armand Hourlier was the son-in-law of Dominique Henri Guifard (Angers 1838–Paris 1913), a painter and decorator from Vineuil-Saint-Firmin who, in the second half of the 19th century, worked for the Duke of Aumale on the design of the décor and paintings for the Château and the Saint-Louis Chapel at Chantilly. Armand Hourlier was an architect. This watercolour demonstrates not only his keen eye for architectural detail but also his talent as a watercolourist.
