[Fernand PINAL, Bruyères-et-Montbérault, Aisne, 1881–1958, painter and engraver, a pupil of Henri Martin and Le Sidaner] A set of original pencil drawings (23.5 x 29 and 29 x 34 cm), one of which is certified in Fernand Pinal’s own hand. His uncle, Sébastien Pinal (1823–1905), a former maître d’hôtel to Napoleon III, spent his retirement in Beaurieux, a village in the Laon region, where he enjoyed painting; Fernand used to spend his holidays with him, and it was Sébastien who instilled in Fernand a love of painting.
