Description
Georges SARRAIRE (20th century). “Sunflowers”. Oil on canvas, signed lower right “xMGxSARRAIRE” and dated 1965/1971. (Dimensions: 92 x 73 cm) - Enclosed is a folder containing sketches and a letter from the artist to Thérèse and Claude. Provenance: Collection of the late Mr Claude LAPP, headteacher of Charly secondary school, headmaster of the Lycée Julie Daubié in Laon and subsequently of the Lycée Gérard de Nerval in Soissons. A Commander of the Order of Academic Palms, he was awarded the National Order of Merit in 2008. Well known to the people of Soissons, he was active in the ‘V.O. en Soissonnais’ festival and the APEI. Georges Sarraire was an art teacher.
